Our Verdict: Solar Lighted Pedestal Bird Bath
Are you excited about your backyard setup?
Meaning…
Do beautiful winged creatures come to visit you during the day? Or are they turned off because they do not have access to a solar birdbath to meet their needs?
You may love looking at cardinals, finches, and other winged creatures. But if they aren’t taken in by your backyard for one reason or another, they may not stick around very long.
To get them to stay awhile, you should add one or more bird feeders, a solar birdbath or two, and other pleasant accessories.
In the case of the solar bird bath…
Consider adding a pedestal bath that also doubles as a flower planter and has a light that turns on at night.
Not only will it brighten up your backyard at dusk because of the glowing lamp, but the beautiful flowers will also brighten your backyard because of their aesthetic appeal.
I’ve reviewed 8 birdbaths and spent around 20 hours testing and researching them.
I learned that each one of these birdbaths has its own unique designs, aesthetic qualities, and appealing features.
You might prefer a hanging bird bath over a pedestal. Nevertheless, the only way to find your favorite is to read these reviews and determine which style will likely best meet your needs.
This particular birdbath is the Best Pedestal Solar Bird Bath because it’s sturdy, strong, attractive, and the bowl is large enough to fit many birds. That’s why I recommend it to my readers and if it’s a good fit, I believe you’ll like it too.

Would you like to know how well the Solar Pedestal Bird Bath Fountain matches up against the other products that I reviewed? I’ll share this information with you and much more below.
It shouldn’t surprise you to learn that this product will do excellent in some categories and not as well and others. But overall, I reviewed the 8 best solar bird baths that I can find, so they are all good for various reasons.
Power Output
This solar birdbath has decent Power Output and scored a 91 out of 100.
What makes the power output so special with this birdbath?
The first thing they mention in the product description is that it’s an elegant energy saver design.
The solar panel is built right into the birdbath. So, when it gets dark out at night, the lamp will automatically turn on as long as you flipped the on switch before putting the birdbath together.
Here’s the interesting thing:
It doesn’t appear to operate on a battery. The solar panel must absorb the energy from the sun and store in a different way. But know that your light will brighten your backyard nonetheless even when it’s really dark outside.
In my opinion, this solar powered lamp is an excellent feature. As long as your birdbath receives ample sunlight during the day, the solar light will shine brightly all night long.
And that’s a nice added bonus, right?
How the Outdoor Solar Lighted Pedestal Bird Bath Fountain stacks up in the power output ratings:
Design
From a designer’s point of view, I graded this solar birdbath with a 90 out of 100.
In my opinion…
Three exciting design features really stand out.
The first is the birdbath bowl itself. This is a relatively large bowl that can easily fit up to 1 ½ gallons of water.
As you can imagine, this provides abundant room for lots of birds to frolic and play, clean themselves, or stop by to quench their thirst by taking a quick drink of your cool water.
Next…
We have the built-in solar lamp.
This lamp is great because it doesn’t run on batteries, it doesn’t require you to plug it in, and as long as it gets sufficient sunlight it will work all night.
Sounds good to me. How about you?
Finally…
I also love the beautiful planter bowl at the bottom of the birdbath.
You can fill it with your favorite summertime flowers like marigolds, zinnias, dahlias, hibiscus, and daisies to name a few exciting options.
These flowers will look amazing and really help to enhance the overall aesthetic.
As you can imagine, these 3 design features make this a well-rounded and affordable birdbath. I personally believe you’ll love this one because it’s so versatile, sturdy, and attractive.
How the Solar Lighted Bird Bath stacks up in the design ratings:
Ease of Cleaning
In the Ease of Cleaning category, I scored this an 80.
What made me make this decision?
A few things, but most important is the overall design and the material that it was made with.
You see, this was made with a high-density poly-resin that is very easy to clean. It doesn’t require much more than wiping it down with water and a little soap if it’s really dirty.
And the best part?
It’s very easy to clean the built-in planter too. At the bottom of the planter, they added drainage holes. So, any excess water will drain from the holes, so you don’t have to worry about draining it yourself before wiping down the birdbath.
The product only weighs 4 ½ pounds, which means it’s very easy to maneuver. You can simply tip it over at the top to dump the water out of the bowl. This provides a simple way to empty the birdbath so you can thoroughly clean it off.
At the end of the day, I know that you’ll have no trouble cleaning this birdbath at all, which is why I ranked it so highly in this category.
How the Outdoor Solar Lighted Pedestal Bird Bath Fountain stacks up in the ease of cleaning ratings:
Ease of Assembly
As far as the category Ease of Assembly is concerned, I gave this solar birdbath a score of 70. This actually places the birdbath in last place out of the 7 others that I reviewed.
Why is it so far down on the list?
First off, I want to make it very clear that this birdbath is not difficult to assemble. A 7 out of 10 is a passing grade by any stretch of the imagination, so keep that in mind.
But compared to the others…
This birdbath is definitely harder to assemble than some of the other choices.
Why?
Well, you’ll receive it in multiple pieces. Not only do certain parts of the birdbath need to be screwed together, but it also has to be properly mounted into the ground to keep it stable and safe.
And there’s one other thing to consider…
The light switch MUST be turned on before you assemble this product.
And the reason why?
The switch is hidden and inaccessible once the birdbath is assembled. So, if you want the light to work, you must turn it on beforehand or disassemble it and turn it on before you reassemble it.
I’m trying to save you from putting it together, taking it apart to turn the light on, and then putting it back together again because it’s unnecessary if you’d just turned it on beforehand!
So, as I said, the assembly isn’t too difficult but it can get a bit tricky and this is especially true with the well-hidden light switch.
How the Solar Pedestal Bird Bath stacks up in the ease of assembly ratings:
Aesthetics
Now…
Aesthetics are an entirely different story and I gave it a score of 90 out of 100.
And it won’t take a genius to figure out why.
First of all, the beautiful bronze coloring is incredibly attractive. Even though it’s clearly made of high-density poly-resin, the birdbath appears to be made of bronze which is very striking to say the least.
But that’s not all.
The birdbath bowl is in the shape of a leaf. It’s hard to explain, but if you look at the picture, you’ll see how nice this design really appears.
And let’s not forget about the light.
This baby lights up at night and it’s pretty bright believe it or not. Many of these birdbath lights aren’t that bright but this one definitely illuminates the entire fountain very clearly.
And another thing:
You can’t help but love the planter bowl at the bottom. Add brightly colored flowers and this gorgeous design looks even prettier with lots of pinks, whites, yellows, and blues adding to the overall aesthetics.

Solar Lighted Pedestal Bird Bath FAQs
Is There An On/OFF Switch For The Solar Light?
Yes, there is an on/off switch! But try not to get too excited because there’s a bit of a catch to this switch.
Believe it or not, you can only turn the solar light on or off while the birdbath is disassembled. Once you assemble it, the switch is completely hidden and totally inaccessible.
Why?
I have no idea why they chose to hide the light switch! And in my opinion, that was definitely a mistake since some people would love to turn the light on and off without taking the entire thing apart again.
But this is the way they designed it and there’s no turning back now. So, I wanted to bring to your attention that the on/off switch exists, but you cannot use it like your typical light switch because it’s completely covered up once it’s assembled.
How Much Water Is Needed To Fill The Bowl?
If you were to fill the bowl all the way to the top, you can fit about 1 ½ gallons of water in it.
But most people tend to fill it about three quarters of the way. And some even like to put river rocks and other accessories within the bowl, which will take up room and require even less water.
Why add rocks to the bowl?
Some people put them in there to help keep it stable on windy days. Since the material is lightweight, it could potentially tip over if it wasn’t properly installed in the ground. The extra weight provides additional permanency.
How Do You Anchor The Bird Bath To Make It More Stable?
Anchoring this birdbath is relatively simple. They provide 3 stakes with the birdbath itself.
But some people feel that the stakes are too small for proper mounting. If you feel this is the case, you can always buy vegetation stakes from your local gardening/hardware store or your favorite online retailer. Insert those in place of the 3 stakes that come with the product because they could make installation sturdier and more stable.
Properly drive each one of the stakes into the ground. Afterward try to tip the bird bath over to see if the stakes provide enough stability to keep it upright on a windy day or during a storm.
